The very first thing to think about, is making a website something for you?
Is this something you will enjoy doing or profit from in some sort of way? Many people make a website to help them advertise their business. Others may want to make a website just for fun. As for myself, I am in the website development business for both. I like making money online as well as I like building websites for a hobby. I have the time, patience and drive to make websites. Making websites is a time consuming and peaceful activity that I enjoy doing in my spare time.
What is your website plan?

You have to plan your website out before you start building your website. Unless of course, you are just going to have fun with it and not care if it is done correctly. But since you are here at my website, I know you do care. So, plan your website first. Just like a business needs a business plan, a website needs a design and layout  plan. As you read on, I will direct you into the steps you need to take for a successful website plan! Unlike you, I had no help planning out my first website. Therefore, I just started going with the flow and slapping things together quickly. Unfortunately, my first website was not a very big hit. Lucky for you, you have my website as an instruction booklet to building your website. So, with that said, grab a blank notebook or a few sheets of paper and take notes! (or you can even print out the information that you need)!

Do you have a business, hobby or online store that you will make your website about?

For me and many other website owners, we chose something that was interesting or fun for us. I have in the past made a couple of websites about poker because I enjoy playing poker. I also enjoy shopping so I have made websites about shopping. And of course, I like making websites along with helping others, so I have made this website to help you make your website. You can make your own website about yourself, your pets, or your family. I have also made a  family website where it has become a gathering area for all of my non-local relatives to come and reunite. We share photo’s, comments, blogs, and family oriented events at my website.

So what is your website going to be about? It is a difficult, very important, and exciting decision to make! The contents of your website depends on your choice of what your website is going to be about. So it is important that you choose something that you have knowledge and understanding about.

What is content and how does it affect my website?
Content is the main key element to a successful website. Content is the information you provide to your readers. (What your website is going to be about). Wording is another way to explain content. Content needs to be reliable text information. Search engines depend on content from websites for their search results. The better the content the better chance you have showing up in the search results when people are searching the internet.
