Rename your website pages to change your displayed search engine results!

This page will give step by step instructions and tips on renaming your pages on your office live website.

Many website owners ask me: "Why are my pages displayed with the wrong description in the search results?" "Why does my page say "home" instead of the name of my website?"

This is a very simple fix to your website! You need to rename your default page titles via officelive or through your website host. This will allow the search engines to crawl your website and see the content, descriptions and page titles that you would like displayed.

Instructions on renaming your website page titles!

Login to your officelive website, go to design your website. You should be in the page manager where a list of your website pages are displayed at. To the right of the page that you would like to change the page title of, there is four options: edit, delete, properties and save as template. You need to choose properties.

A form should appear showing you what your page title is called. You need to delete the text that it says and replace it with what you would like your page title to be. You can also change the name of your navigation title if you would like. This is also the area  where you can adjust your navigation position of your website page.  After making your changes to your page title, you hit apply at the bottom of the properties form and then hit ok. Your page title should change right away, but it may take the search engines a couple of days to notice the changes made to your pages.

Things to know before you change your website page titles:
Your page title will be what is displayed when the search engines crawl your website. So with this in mind, make sure you title your page carefully and preferably with a keyword included.

If you are making your website through officelive, then you will probably need to change the page titles of your default website pages: Home Page, About Us page, Contact us page...Your sitemap page should however stay the same name. I recommend changing your home page title to the name of your website, so that your website name will be displayed instead of the word: Home. Your About Us page can be changed to About (your website name) and your contact us page is up to you....many website owners change it to just contact page, instead of contact us! Or you may type Contact (your website name).

Be careful NOT to delete your default pages, you are renaming your website pages...not deleting them. You will have to create your website pages over if you accidently delete them.
