Change your page size: Page Width and Page Alignment!
This page is for all website owners that are beginners and need to change their web page sizes on their Office Live Site. All other website owners may also find this information helpful. I will provide some helpful tips on how others view your site and what you should do to help them enjoy your site better. Your website's appearance is important when it comes to attracting paying customers and or visitors.
Office live users may also need to know how to change their site background and how to use their page display opfions. Looking at some websites, I have noticed that I have to scroll vertically and horizontally to see the main contents of their websites. This is not a good idea if you are serious about getting visitors to your site. They will not stay long if they have to scroll around to find your information, services or products.
Having a good navigation system is highly recommended. When you view your website, pretend that you are viewing someone else's website. Can you get around the site very well? Does the size of the website bother your eyes? Is the page width and alignment sized appropriately? Can you see all of the contents horizontally when viewing the site? Change your page size to 780px in width to make sure everyone can view your site okay. Center your page alignment. Centering your page will allow your visitors to see your main contents. You do not want them to have to scroll horizontally to see what you offer. Most people will just close your site and move on to the next site of their choice. I do not know everything about website development, but I do know that navigation is important to viewers.
How do you change the page width in an office live website? You first login to your site, hit design site. You then click on your home page. Edit your home page. You then choose the Site Designer tab that is located at the top of the page. Changing your home page size will automatically change all your other pages unless you have it custom designed. Within the site designer, there is different page options. Click on the options tab that is located above the advanced section. (Make sure you have advanced options turned on.) You will then be taken to site options where you can customize your web page. Like I stated before, you should change your page width to 780px and center your page alignment.
You can also change the display options within the instructions above. You can change your background to "gradient" or you can leave it a solid color. You can also take off the "powered by Microsoft Office Live" Logo that is located at the bottom of your website. Another option that is available is the search box that is located at the very top of your website. If you are applying google adsense ads to your site and would like to place a google search box, it is a good idea to remove the bing search box. Visitors do like to search many times and you will be reimbursed with the google searches performed via your site. That is if you have an approved account at google adsense. Adding a google search box will also help with monetizing your site!
